The NSRS is recognised by government and industry. Implemented by the Singapore Workforce Development Agency, together with industry, the NSRS standards are nationally recognised.

Organisations which have implemented the NSRS company-wide can use the NSRS logo on their letterheads, brochures and advertisements to distinguish themselves in the market and inform customers that they are being served by trained staff. To recognise their skills acquisition, NSRS-certified staff can use the NSRS logo on their namecards and wear special collar pins.

As there are no specific academic or training entry requirements for skills assessment, the NSRS provides skills progression to all staff. Anyone can select any unit and progress to achieve the highest level of skills in the system.
